our camera wasn’t in focus for the filming so I would make sure that the camera

Shutter speed
What shutter speeds are there? Which is best for showing the speed of an object? if an object is moving fast then you should use a fast shutter speed to capture the object without it being blurry.
Which is best for capturing a fast moving object in perfect stillness?1/4000 which is the fastest shutter speed.

Which is best for blowing the image up very large?

the reason we use rule of thirds.is so the important subjects are in the view of people.Therefore people do not have to look around to find the subjects
if you are taking a horizon photo you need to slit the horizon this means the sunset will be on the bottom or the top line. centre framing gives the subject power.in filming centre framing is used to compliment fast edits.so the viewer doesn't have to move there eyes.
frame in frame is used to make the subject really clear and bold.
